Aromatherapy tips for your home to smell good.

Enjoyable fragrances not only assist to create a positive feel, but can even be therapeutic and help the mind to relax whether alone or in a friendly meetup. Aromatherapy is the practice of using aromatic oils or essence of plants, to aid good health.

“A home that smells fresh, makes their occupants and guests feel good. Smells are associated directly with emotions. A pleasurable smell can improve and uplift one’s feelings, after a hard trip to work, ” factors out Manita Bajaj, owner and CEO of Sattva Life. There are plenty of ways to make a home great smelling – with reed diffusers, air freshening sprays, wax lights and potpourri.

“Although air sprays can be used to freshen up materials and the house, they are manufactured from chemicals and may well not do well for the health. Instead, you can light a non-scented wax luminous and let it burn up for a couple of minutes, until some molten wax forms. In that case, give a few drops of petrol of your choice and the aroma will spread around the room. This is an affordable and healthier way to have aroma at home, ” suggests Bajaj.

Scents for various purposes
Diffusers, which heat essential natural oils and allow their compounds to be released in to the air, can be used. Important oils can freshen up and cleanse one’s home, adds aroma therapist, Medical professional Blossom Kochhar, chairperson of the Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies. “Some essential oils may have a relaxing effect. Some herbal oils can be uplifting and stimulating, while others even have aphrodisiac properties, very well explains Kochhar. Sandalwood has a pleasant, woody smell that instils a sense of inner peace and helps meditation. Jasmine is a subtle and evocative fragrance, which acts as a stimulant, anti-depressant, anti-spasmodic and antiseptic.

“Jasmine creates a good feel, while revitalising and restoring your energy. Lavender has relaxing properties, which help the body and mind to relax and helps deal with insomnia and headaches. Ylang (extracted from a star-shaped yellow flower) oil is well suited for the bedroom. The aroma peps you up, will act as an aphrodisiac and will also help reduce fatigue and stress. The moment the flu is in air, add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to a divulguer, to prevent coughs and respiratory problems, ” provides Kochhar.

Medicinal properties
“The fragrance of essential natural oils, can modify your disposition, help concentration and clear the area of air-borne bacteria, ” adds Bajaj. The aroma of that lotus (which is employed in strict offerings), has medicinal properties and creates a religious ambience. The fragrance of the sacred plant Tulsi (Tulsi), has cleansing properties and strengthens the immune system system. Lemon promotes filter and love, refreshes your brain and soothes one’s spirit, Bajaj elaborates.

Rose oil eases stress and anxiety, while rosemary oil increases focus and concentration. Neroli oil (made from the flowers of the bitter orange tree) is a stress buster and relieves mental weariness. ”

Tips to use essential oils at home
For your drawers and closets, place cotton tennis balls by drops of lavender oil.
You can buy readymade potpourri or make it at home, by using dried rose padding and orange slices, mint, cinnamon and clove. Place the potpourri in détroit or on side dining tables.
To clean kitchen surfaces, use tea tree and lavender essential oils, as these have antibacterial properties.
For wiping floors, add few drops of lemongrass essential oil to a bucket of water. Lemongrass oil wards off pests. You can also blow up the toilet, by adding a few drops of lemongrass oil in the toilet pan.
To rid clothes of a musty smell, put a few drops of lavender oil in a tiny spray bottle and squirt it on the clothes, before ironing it.
Employing peppermint essential oil in a diffuser, helps to reduce the chances of red ants and cockroaches.
